Modern vision examination according to EU standards

Modern vision examination according to EU standards

Modern eye diagnostics at our centre are performed using high-precision digital equipment that complies with the requirements and clinical protocols of the European Union. This computer-based vision assessment provides objective data on the visual system, enables a comprehensive diagnostic eye examination, and supports the selection of the most effective treatment plan—both surgical and conservative.

The interpretation of results is provided by a highly qualified ophthalmologist. During the consultation, the specialist explains the findings, potential limitations, possible adverse reactions, and the advantages of different therapeutic options in a clear manner so that the patient fully understands the diagnosis, the methods used for identifying visual disturbances, and which correction options are most appropriate in their specific case.

Comprehensive vision diagnostics include

Comprehensive vision diagnostics include

Comprehensive vision diagnostics are a set of eye health examinations in which we not only assess visual acuity but also carefully evaluate the condition of all ocular structures. Computer-based vision diagnostics include:

  • Measurement of ocular parameters using digital instruments. This computer-based eye examination allows assessment of refraction, corneal curvature, axial length, and other key indicators.
  • Review of medical documentation. The physician carefully analyses previous examinations and treatments to evaluate changes in vision over time.
  • Specialised diagnostic tests for each eye separately and in combined mode. This diagnostic eye assessment helps identify even subtle or hidden disorders.
  • Microscopic evaluation of anatomical ocular structures. High magnification is used for a thorough assessment of the cornea, lens, iris, and other structures.

The entire examination is conducted in a gentle, patient-friendly manner, predominantly non-contact, and is suitable for both adults and children. According to patient feedback, such computer-based vision diagnostics are among the best ways to check vision quickly and without pain.

Regular vision checks are the basis of disease prevention

Regular vision checks are the basis of disease prevention

Regular eye checks are not only an opportunity to test vision, but an important part of preventing many conditions. During the examination, an ophthalmologist may detect changes in retinal vessels that reflect cardiovascular health, identify early signs of diabetes, hypertension, and other systemic conditions. Therefore, periodic eye diagnostics are important even in the absence of complaints.

Many disorders develop imperceptibly, without symptoms, and only a comprehensive vision examination enables timely identification of pathology.

The optimal frequency of an ophthalmology visit is once per year. This rule applies even to those who do not experience vision problems. Prevention is always more effective than treatment—especially when it comes to the eyes.

Computer-based vision diagnostics: why it is performed and how the procedure is carried out

Computer-based vision diagnostics: why it is performed and how the procedure is carried out

Before choosing a correction method—glasses, contact lenses, or laser treatment—it is important to undergo a detailed computer-based eye examination.

Computer-based vision diagnostics is a modern, gentle, and highly informative way to check vision, allowing precise assessment of ocular parameters without pain or discomfort.

How computer-based vision diagnostics is performed

    01Appointment booking and preparation

You can book a vision check by phone or online in just a few minutes. If you wear soft contact lenses, it is recommended to remove them 12 hours before the examination. Please bring your glasses, previous conclusions, and test results so that the physician can assess changes over time. It is advisable not to drive, as eye drops used to dilate pupils may cause temporary visual discomfort.

    02Computer-based vision diagnostics

The examination is performed using the latest devices and includes a comprehensive vision assessment: measurement of intraocular pressure, corneal analysis, refraction assessment, and evaluation of the ocular fundus. The full examination typically takes 1–1.5 hours. One of the key stages is checking visual acuity using charts, which helps accurately prescribe optical correction.

If necessary, the physician uses pupil-dilating drops to thoroughly evaluate the ocular fundus and rule out hidden conditions. This comprehensive vision check and laser eye assessment using modern visualisation systems ensure maximum diagnostic accuracy.

03Clinical conclusion based on examination results

After the eye examination, the patient receives an official report with results: vision parameters, intraocular pressure data, and the condition of the cornea and ocular fundus. During the consultation, the ophthalmologist explains the results in detail and provides recommendations regarding treatment, prevention, or preparation for surgery.

The advantages and disadvantages of each method, contraindications, and potential adverse effects are discussed so that you can make an informed decision.

Comprehensive vision examination: which tests are performed

During a full eye assessment, various vision-check methods and computer-based diagnostics are used:

Visiometry

Assessment of distance and near visual acuity using standard charts. This is the basic vision check that starts any examination.

Tonometry

Measurement of intraocular pressure for early detection of glaucoma.

Refractometry

Automated determination of the eye’s refractive power, enabling accurate assessment of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Biometry

Non-contact computer-based eye assessment measuring axial length, anterior chamber depth, and lens thickness—particularly important before surgery and when selecting an intraocular lens.

Pachymetry

Measurement of corneal thickness using optical or ultrasound methods; required before laser eye assessment and refractive surgery.

Corneal topography

Assessment of corneal shape and curvature, supporting the diagnosis of keratoconus and other conditions.

Kinetic perimetry

Visual field testing required for glaucoma, optic nerve damage, and retinal pathologies.

Biomicroscopy

Examination of the anterior segment using a slit lamp with high magnification.

Fundus examination with a fundus lens

Detailed assessment of the retina, macula, and vessels.

Lensmeter (dioptometry)

Assessment of the parameters of glasses already used by the patient to confirm they are prescribed correctly.

What our patients say about us

Our eye centre has performed over 1,000,000 successful laser vision correction procedures and provided more than 5,000,000 ophthalmology consultations.

Vytautas Balčiūnas

Cataract treatment

Vytautas Balčiūnas

Cataract was really getting in the way: small text was hard to read and faces in the distance became less clear. At the appointment they performed diagnostics quickly and carefully and предложили cataract treatment with lens replacement. The cataract surgery was well organized, without long waiting. After the cataract removal it became easier to work and I don’t need to strain my eyes to see details. I liked that the clinic stays in touch and reminds me about follow-up visits.

Tomas Vaičiūnas

Cataract treatment

Tomas Vaičiūnas

I liked that the clinic didn’t stick to generic explanations—they clarified the differences between IOL types and what fits my usual lifestyle best. The cataract surgery was quick and calm, and I understood what was happening at every step. After the IOL implantation, the “yellow tint” and haze disappeared, and colors became brighter. Another big plus was the attentive staff: reminders about drops, careful checkups, and clear recovery guidance.

Jurgita Märkene

Laser vision correction

Jurgita Märkene

Laser correction was a great decision to make life easier. I have had poor eyesight since childhood. Now all that remains is to enjoy it every day. Another big advantage is that when my eyes get tired, I no longer have headaches. I can’t say exactly why I chose your clinic — probably my inner voice told me that you were the ones who should perform the surgery. I was very satisfied. This is a professional clinic, and I recommend everyone to undergo surgery here.

Frequently asked questions about vision checks

  • Regular vision checks are recommended even without complaints. If you experience eye fatigue, blurred vision, “fog”, tearing, headaches, or spend significant time at a computer, it is advisable to book a comprehensive eye examination. At our clinic, vision checks include visual acuity assessment, computer-based diagnostics, and fundus examination to identify changes in time and select appropriate treatment.

  • A comprehensive vision check and full eye diagnostics include visiometry (visual acuity assessment), tonometry, refractometry, computer-based eye examination, fundus assessment, and biomicroscopy. Such a comprehensive examination not only checks vision but also identifies hidden conditions and determines the most effective treatment approach.

  • A chart test shows how well you see at distance or near. Computer-based vision checks and diagnostics provide precise digital data about refraction, corneal curvature, and other parameters. This helps prescribe glasses or lenses more accurately and assess whether laser diagnostics or surgical treatment may be appropriate.

  • Comprehensive eye examinations and computer-based diagnostics are painless and predominantly non-contact. In some cases, pupil-dilating drops are used; near vision may temporarily worsen, which is a normal reaction. Serious adverse effects are extremely rare; contraindications are assessed by the physician during consultation. Vision checks at our clinic comply with European safety standards.

  • The cost of a vision check depends on the scope of examination: basic testing, a comprehensive eye examination, or expanded computer-based diagnostics. Pricing is transparent—details can be clarified at reception or during online booking. From time to time, promotions may be available, and some screening checks or consultations may be provided under special offers.

  • Yes. After the examination and interpretation of results, you will receive recommendations and a treatment plan. If necessary, conservative treatment, correction with glasses or lenses, laser diagnostics before surgery, or surgical intervention may be proposed. During consultation, the physician explains the benefits and potential disadvantages of each option so that you can make an informed decision.

  • If you simply need to update glasses, a basic visual acuity check can be performed at an optician. However, for full eye diagnostics, computer-based examination, fundus assessment, and treatment selection, it is safer to consult a specialised clinic. Our centre has all the necessary equipment for comprehensive diagnostics, and patient feedback confirms the quality of our services.

  • Computer-based diagnostics are suitable for most patients: adults, adolescents, and individuals after surgery. The physician considers comorbidities, pregnancy, medications, and possible contraindications to laser diagnostics or surgery. If limitations exist, the specialist will propose alternative methods and safe treatment. Therefore, it is important not only to check vision, but also to receive professional consultation—including cases where myopia is suspected in a child.
