Why check more than your vision?
Visual acuity, prescription and corneal measurements are essential before laser correction. The condition of your tear film and ocular surface can also affect comfort and recovery afterwards. We assess these factors while planning your treatment, rather than waiting for symptoms to appear.
What else we examine
We look at three aspects of the eye surface that a standard vision test cannot show.
Tear film
We check how evenly it covers the eye and how stable it remains.
Eye-surface moisture
We assess moisture and look for signs of dryness.
Meibomian gland function
We check the glands that help keep your tear film stable.
Even if your eyes feel fine
Dry eye does not always cause noticeable symptoms. That is why we check the eye surface before correction.
How do the findings affect your plan?
If we find a concern, your ophthalmologist may:
- recommend treatment first;
- tailor your aftercare plan;
- postpone correction if needed.

You can learn about factors that may affect comfort after correction, such as dryness, irritation, a gritty feeling or temporary fluctuations in vision. Your ophthalmologist explains the findings and recommends a preparation and aftercare plan for your eyes.
