When contact lenses should not be worn

08.01.2014

Dry eye syndrome

  1. Inflammatory eye diseases:
    – inflammation of the conjunctiva (conjunctivitis);
    – inflammation of the cornea (keratitis);
    – inflammation of the sclera (scleritis);
    – inflammation of the structures of the uveal tract (uveitis);
    – inflammation of the eyelid margin (blepharitis);
    – inflammation of the iris and ciliary body (iridocyclitis)
    Wearing contact lenses may worsen the above-mentioned eye diseases due to mechanical eye irritation and oxygen deficiency. When inflammatory eye diseases become severe, contact lenses must not be worn until recovery. In chronic inflammatory eye diseases, contact lenses must not be worn during flare-ups, as well as throughout the entire treatment period.
  2. Obstruction of the tear ducts, inflammation of the lacrimal sac (dacryocystitis), dryness of the conjunctiva and cornea (xerophthalmia), and insufficient tear production.
  3. Vitreous prolapse, uncompensated glaucoma, strabismus (if the strabismus angle is greater than 15 degrees).
  4. Common cold. During a cold, tear drainage worsens due to nasal congestion and overall immunity weakens. This can damage the lenses and generally worsen the condition of the eyes.
  5. Chronic allergies.
  6. Mental illnesses.
  7. Respiratory diseases (chronic bronchitis, asthma), tuberculosis.
  8. AIDS.
  9. Use of medicinal products:
    – cold medications;
    – motion sickness medications;
    – allergy medications;
    – diuretic medications.

    Blue-eyed people - a source of energy for those around them or unreliable people?

    In ancient times, thousands of years ago, blue-eyed people, who appeared as a mutation of brown-eyed ones when the latter were on the verge of extinction, prevented humanity from disappearing from the surface of our planet Earth. Blue-eyed people provided the much-needed vital energy, thus seemingly programming the purpose of future blue-eyed generations — to spread energy to those around them.

    Glasses for working at the computer

    Recently, desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and similar devices have become almost essential tools. Who among us does not use them at least once a day? Many people’s work is associated with constant, focused viewing of the computer screen. Meanwhile, after returning home, we continue to sit at the computer, even though we know that our eyes need rest from intense activity. Eventually, the eyes become overstrained, computer vision syndrome develops, accommodation spasms appear, myopia progresses, and overall well-being worsens.
