Laser vision correction
2016 in ophthalmology marks the end of the era of excimer and femtosecond lasers. This is explained by the ophthalmologist of the “Naujas regėjimas” clinic, Andrej Radzko, who has performed over 400,000 successful laser vision correction procedures.
“I have been working as an ophthalmologist for more than 25 years and in my practice I have used excimer and femtosecond lasers from various manufacturers in the USA, Japan, Germany, and Russia. I have accumulated extensive experience; I performed my first laser vision correction procedures in the last century. Excimer laser technologies were very effective, helping patients suffering from myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism get rid of glasses and contact lenses. This greatly improved people’s quality of life, for example, athletes who can now move freely, which was impossible with glasses. Those who have experienced this will surely understand me.
The LASERSOFT solid-state laser with cold LED technology has such a high operating speed (ten times faster than a standard excimer laser) that during laser vision correction, the cornea barely heats up. Our clinic, “Naujas regėjimas,” constantly introduces new technologies in the Baltic countries, and we are proud that the LASERSOFT manufacturers (Germany) chose us as a reference clinic, where training will be held and new technological possibilities will be demonstrated to ophthalmologists from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Sharing experience and training with innovations serves the benefit of patients, ensuring that treatment results are even safer and more precise.
The possibilities of the new solid-state laser are simply incredible: its cornea-affecting wavelength is 210 nm. Until now, it was hard to imagine that it was possible to increase the speed of laser vision correction tenfold and reduce the laser spot 3–4 times. Now this laser is in our clinic, and we can observe excellent results from its operation.
It has already been proven that applying our IQ-LASIK OXYGEN and IQ-LASIK SPORT methods using the solid-state laser with LED technology provides an undeniable advantage. We always use only the newest technologies to treat our patients. Although we have abandoned excimer lasers and the new technology is significantly more expensive, in 2016 the clinic will offer a special introductory price for laser vision correction, so our services will not become more expensive.”
