The Influence of Emotions on Myopia

Psychological factors can also contribute to vision disorders such as myopia and hyperopia.

Vision helps us navigate the world around us and understand it, but beyond visual perception, it also plays a role in spiritual perception. The information that reaches us through the eyes comes through the prism of our worldview. Therefore, many things we see are subjective, not necessarily as others see them.

Personal traits, emotions, and life attitudes can influence what we see around us and how we perceive it. In this way, emotions can affect our vision itself, sometimes even disrupting it.

Myopia and hyperopia can be considered psychosomatic diseases because psychological attitudes of a person can play a significant role in their development.

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a visual acuity disorder in which the ability to see and distinguish distant objects decreases. From a psychological perspective, such a vision disorder may arise from a person’s fear of looking into the future.

If a person cannot explain and accept what is happening in their life, and fears what awaits them in the future, they develop a desire simply not to see it. The person tries to focus their attention on the problems and tasks occurring at that moment. This attitude forms the basis of myopia.

To prevent myopia or halt further weakening of vision, it is necessary to abandon negative attitudes and understand that fear of facing the inevitable future is often completely unfounded.
