Laser Correction Against Allergy

Winter has already given way to spring. Blooming flowers, singing birds, and bright sunshine delight us. However, it is unfortunate that not everyone can enjoy this beauty. Tearing and itchy eyes simply do not allow it. According to statistics, every third European suffers from eye allergies. In America, one in ten people has this problem. The issue is further complicated by the fact that people with eye allergies wear contact lenses, which can cause serious eye diseases. Each year, the number of patients complaining about eye allergies and their consequences increases. The U.S. Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology advises such patients to undergo laser vision correction.

“Due to the anatomical structure of the eyes, they are easily affected by various allergens,” explains Andrejus Radko, chief doctor of the Vilnius eye clinic “New Vision.” “Patients constantly come to us with various allergic eye inflammations, often with the so-called red eye syndrome. Usually, people complain of reduced and blurry vision, dark floating spots before the eyes, as well as eye itching and tearing.”

First, such a patient is recommended to stop wearing contact lenses. Allergic conjunctivitis can be caused by cosmetic products, eye drops and ointments, plant pollen that gets into the eyes during flowering, and, of course, wearing contact lenses. Sneezing, runny nose, itching, and tearing are much more irritating because they interfere with work, hobbies, sports, and even spending time with family and friends. Wearing contact lenses on irritated eyes usually causes infection and more serious eye problems. Therefore, the American recommendation for these patients to undergo laser vision correction is completely logical. This procedure would not only solve the problem of eye allergies while wearing contact lenses but also allow the patient to see the beauty of nature clearly, comfortably, and without tears throughout the year.
