Cold Laser Vision Correction – LED Technology

We asked the director of the eye disease clinic “Naujas regėjimas” in Vilnius, Oleg Kovriguine, to talk about this new technology.

– Cold laser vision correction is a huge step forward for our patients with vision impairments. Previously, laser vision correction was performed with an excimer laser. For some techniques, at a certain stage of the laser vision correction procedure, additional femtosecond lasers were also required. During our twenty years of work experience, we have always used the best laser models from Japanese, American, and German manufacturers. All our patients are happy with their good vision after laser vision correction.

Our clinic applies proprietary methods for laser vision correction – IQ-LASIK OXYGEN and IQ-LASIK SPORT, which provide excellent results. These methods are used to perform procedures for professional aircraft pilots, submarine sailors, and racers, as their effect is always guaranteed and indisputable.

In 2016, we are leaving femtosecond and excimer technologies in the past.

– What are the advantages of the LASERSOFT LED technology laser?

– Today we have the opportunity to use the unique LASERSOFT laser and apply cold laser vision correction technology. Working with specialists from the company that produces these lasers and being professionals ourselves, we had the opportunity to verify all the advantages of this laser: the laser spot became 3–4 times smaller, forming an area with a diameter of 0.2 mm, and the operating speed of this laser is ten times higher than that of a standard excimer laser. This means that the duration of the procedure decreases tenfold, while its precision increases significantly. When the vision of one of our patients after laser vision correction exceeded the norm three times, all our specialists could not believe it. The ophthalmologists at our clinic, who have accumulated extensive experience, now have the opportunity to work with a modern equipment complex and thus open up new horizons in their work. Of course, this new equipment is much more expensive than what is currently used in other European countries.

– Does this mean that the price of laser vision correction will increase?

– “Naujas regėjimas” in Vilnius is the clinic selected by the manufacturer of LASERSOFT solid-state lasers (Germany), where training for Baltic ophthalmologists on working with this new equipment will take place. We strive for old devices no longer to be used in ophthalmology. Therefore, in 2016 we offer our patients a special introductory price for laser vision correction, which means that the price will remain unchanged, while the correction will be performed with the newest equipment. Our goal is to provide our patients with everything that modern ophthalmology has to offer. Thus, the price of laser vision correction performed using cold LED technology is our New Year’s gift to patients.
