Laser treatment of eye diseases
The substances abundant in fish products can prevent age-related changes in the retina. Therefore, to avoid age-related eye problems, doctors recommend eating fish at least once a week.
Fish contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and docosahexaenoic acid. According to experts, these substances, when consuming fish at least once a month, reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by 38%. Meanwhile, consuming fish once a week reduces this risk by as much as 42%. By the way, scientists recommend choosing fatty fish (tuna, salmon, sardines, mackerel).
One of the causes of AMD can be chronic inflammation. Scientists claim that omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids found in fish fats have anti-inflammatory properties.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a disease of the macula part of the retina, characterized by large soft drusen and disturbances in retinal pigment epithelium pigmentation. It is the main cause of vision loss among people over 60 years of age. AMD affects the part of the eye responsible for visual focus.
In some people, this disease develops slowly, while some ophthalmology patients notice the first symptoms of the disease much faster. Progressive AMD can lead to complete blindness.
Scientists are convinced that AMD prevention is precisely the way to help preserve vision for millions of people. Also, to prevent age-related changes in the retina, doctors recommend constantly monitoring blood pressure and giving up harmful habits, especially smoking.
